Leveling and Cutting Machine Introduction
A leveling and cutting machine is an integrated automated system that combines **metal sheet leveling (straightening)** and **fixed-length cutting**. It primarily processes defects in uncoiled metal strips (e.g., steel/aluminum coils), such as edge waves, warping, and camber, then cuts them into flat sheets of precise lengths.
Core Functions & Working Principles:
1. Leveling (Straightening):
Purpose:Eliminates internal stresses from rolling/coiling/uncoiling processes.
Principle: Sheets pass through staggered upper/lower leveling rollers. These rollers apply reverse bending stress (like flattening crumpled paper), inducing plastic deformation to permanently remove stress irregularities.
Key: Effectiveness depends on roller count, diameter, arrangement, and pressure. Thin sheets (≤3mm) require more rollers (17+); thick sheets (≥3mm) use fewer rollers (9-11) with higher pressure.
2. Cutting:
Purpose: Precisely cuts leveled sheets to preset lengths.
Principle: Servo-driven feed rollers with encoders advance sheets. Cutting activates when reaching target length.
Cutting Methods:
Hydraulic Shear: For thick plates (≥2mm)/high-strength steel. High cutting force, stable.
Pneumatic Punching: For thin sheets (≤3mm)/high-speed lines. Burr-free cuts, efficient.
Laser Cutting (Optional): For complex contours/high precision. No tooling changes.
Key Components:
Uncoiler (Optional): Holds/unwinds metal coils.
Feeding Guide: Directs sheets into leveling section.
Leveling Unit: Core assembly with hardened alloy-steel rollers. Adjustable upper/lower rollers adapt to sheet thickness.
Feeding Mechanism: Servo-driven feed rollers + encoder for micron-level accuracy.
Cutting Unit: Hydraulic/pneumatic/laser cutter with material clamps.
Discharge Table: Collects finished sheets.
Control System: PLC + HMI touchscreen. Stores cutting parameters (length/quantity), enables auto-operation, and diagnostics.
Advantages & Applications:
Advantages:
Integrated process → Saves space/costs, boosts efficiency.
High precision: Cutting tolerance ±0.3mm; flatness ≤0.5mm/m².
Quality assurance: Eliminates defects for downstream processes (e.g., roll forming).
Automation: Reduces labor, enables continuous production.
Material savings: Precise cuts minimize waste.
Applications:
Roll forming lines (U/C channels, roofing panels).
Sheet metal fabrication (cabinets, ducts).
Construction (wall/roof base sheets).
Automotive/appliance component preprocessing.
